09 Ten Ways You Can Help

As a member of APR, you have taken an important step towards supporting your favorite public radio programs by doing more than just listening...you're actively contributing! That is vital for the future of the station, and we can never say "thank you" enough!

As a loyal advocate of APR and public radio, you may at times have the desire and opportunity to take that extra step, make that special effort, or say, "Thanks" to APR publicly and help us in our mission of education and entertainment for you and your neighbors in Alabama.

In addition to generous financial support, our quality of service depends on your involvement. Please consider these relatively easy - yet meaningful - actions you can take to support your favorite public radio station:

1.    Praise in Public: Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper when you want to say "Thanks" to APR. If it shows up in print, please send us a copy.

2.    Keep Us in Mind: Refer a business associate, a friend, a client, or a peer to APR for individual membership, program underwriting or event sponsorship.

3.    Pass it On: Share information about upcoming APR programs and events...and forward your copy of our quarterly newsletter Soundings to someone else after you have finished reading it.

4.    Get Personally Involved: Volunteer to assist in one of our membership campaigns. We always need volunteers to answer the phones during our drives. Please fill out our online form to volunteer for fund drives.

5.    Give Timely Feedback: E-mail us via our website when you hear something you don't like, but especially when you hear something that's wonderful!

6.    Stay Tuned In: Keep your radio on APR as much as you can. At work or business, educate colleagues and customers about APR and public radio. You can also listen to APR online!

7.    Keep Us Informed: Submit non-profit, cultural events in your community via the "Submit an Event" page on our website.

8.   Exercise Your Rights: Contact your elected officials to voice your concern about the sometimes uncertain future of public radio funding.

9.    Show Your Pride: Use your APR logo items proudly for all to see!

10. Check With Your Employer: Ask your Human Resources department if your company has a matching gifts program. Many employers will match your gift, sometimes doubling or tripling the impact of your donation! Ask for a match form, fill out the donor section, and send it to APR and we will do the rest!
