ua.edu

Elected officials and the family and friends of Mal Moore will gather today, for the dedication of the Mal Moore Memorial Highway.

In 2013, the original resolution passed named a portion of U.S. Highway 29 in Dozier, Alabama where Moore was born and raised, in his memory. During the 2015 Regular Session, a resolution was passed naming U.S. Highway 29 in northern Covington County in his memory, as well as U.S. Highway 29 in Crenshaw County.

Earlier this year, Alabama Department of Transportation officials installed Mal Moore Memorial Highway signs on Alabama Highway 29.

ALDOT is pleased to join in honoring the life achievements and memory of Mal Moore,” said ALDOT spokesman Tony Harris.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill said Coach Mal Moore was known for his distinguished record of service and unwavering support of the Crimson Tide,” and “It is a privilege for me to be a part of the highway dedication ceremony to honor his memory. Coach Moore exemplified all that we should aspire to be.”
