Robotics teams from the Kilby Laboratory School are holding a sponsorship campaign and a fundraiser to assist them in competing in the VEX Robotics World Championship. The teams will be fundraising at the Sam’s Club in Florence on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.

In 1989, roughly 50 Fyffe residents saw what they claimed to be UFOs. Since that time, town officials have commemorated these unusual sightings with a summer festival called "Fyffe UFO Days." Held on the last Saturday of every August, the event is known to draw thousands of residents and visitors each year.

The city of Arab is kicking off its annual SugarFest. This year’s SugarFest is on September 2nd at Arab City Park. The free festival will include an arts and crafts show, food trucks, a 5K run and a fireworks show.

Registration for after-school programs opened July 10 and is quickly filling up. During these programs, children can complete their homework, enjoy a snack and participate in various arts and crafts and recreational activities. Programs begin Monday, Aug. 7.
