Montgomery, AL – State Democrats continue to focus on Governor Bob Riley's use of no-bid contracts. It was a central issue in Riley's campaign for governor. But Alabama Democratic Party executive director Mike Kanarick says Riley is letting the situation get out of control. He says the Contract Review Permanent Legislative Oversight Committee reports the governor's administration has spent about 390 million dollars on no-bid contracts. But Troy King, the governor's legal advisor, has said Democrats are just trying to divert attention from the governor's efforts to reform the state. He says a competitive selection process is being used for contracts.
