Nashville, TN – The Southern Baptist Convention is considering splitting from the Baptist World Alliance. The Southern Baptist executive committee voted Tuesday in Nashville to withdraw from the Alliance. The recommendation will be presented to the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting in June. If it's approved, the Southern Baptist Convention would leave the Baptist World Alliance October First. The Convention says the alliance has become too liberal and advocates dangerous theologies. The alliance is a global fellowship representing about 47 million Baptists.
