New Director Ready To Get To Work

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuskegee, AL – The new director of the Bioethics Center at Tuskegee University, Doctor Vanessa Northington Gamble, says eliminating disparities in health care is not a minority issue, it is an American issue.
She also says she hopes to influence public policy through education, community outreach and research. Gamble is a former co-director for the Center for Health Disparities Solutions at Johns Hopkins University. She also played a key role in President Clinton's 1997 apology for the infamous Tuskeegee syphilis study, which was secretly conducted in Macon County during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Gamble officially takes her position as director of Tuskegee's Bioethics Center on July First.
