Montgomery, AL – Governor Bob Riley named Drayton Nabers as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Tuesday. Leaving his job as state Finance Director, Nabers says he wanted the job of Chief Justice for several reasons. He says he loves this state and the law. He also says it gives him the opportunity to try to serve the people of Alabama. Nabers has a law degree from Yale and practiced law in Birmingham before joining Protective Life Insurance in 1979. He served the company in several different capacities, including CEO, until his retirement in 2001.
