Montgomery, AL – Governor Bob Riley says he's considering calling a special session later this year. He says there's a good chance for it if a state task force can agree on recommendations for controlling rising health care costs. Health insurance costs for state workers and public school employees have risen about ten percent a year and are expected to reach nearly one billion dollars in the next fiscal year. Mac McArthur, executive director of the Alabama State Employees Association, says a special session should be limited to an agreement on the health care issues. But Riley says he may also include some government accountability measures. But McArthur says that could bog down the session.
