Montgomery, AL – A federal grand jury investigation into government corruption has heard from some new witnesses, but the witnesses would not identify themselves outside the federal courthouse in Montgomery Monday. One witness did say she worked with A-F-S Equities. That was the investment firm that did work for former Governor Don Siegelman and for the state during Siegelman's administration. The grand jury has been meeting periodically since for more than a month. Siegelman has not been charged in the Montgomery investigation. But he has been indicted by a separate grand jury in Birmingham. Federal prosecutors in that case, meanwhile, are trying to disqualify Siegelman's defense team. The prosecutors say Siegelman's attorneys have conflicts. A federal judge has scheduled a hearing for Wednesday.
