Montgomery, AL – More than 100 bird vendors gathered in Montgomery this weekend for the All Bird Show and Fair. Bird breeders from 14 different states brought their feathered friends to the Governors House Hotel and Conference Center to show them off and to sell them. The fair was hosted by the Central Alabama Avicultural Society. Society president Jo Reaves also directed the bird show. She says the show usually brings in between three and four-thousand dollars in profits. It uses that money to fund several different avian ventures, like the Montgomery Zoo, the Raptor Center at Auburn and the American Federation of Aviculture. Reaves also says Hurricane Frances put a damper on the attendance numbers...but she says when past natural disasters have hit...the Central Alabama society has donated materials and volunteers to bird breeders in need.
