By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – The State Board of Education is proposing a nearly three-point-seven billion dollar budget for the next fiscal year. That's about about 250 million dollars more than the current budget. State Superintendent Joe Morton has said this budget could improve each school in this state. The board's budget proposal asks the governor to request money from the Legislature to hire 676 additional teachers, assistant principals, counselors and librarians.
