Leftover Flu Shots Will Be Offered in December

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Health department workers across the state say they now have leftover flu shots. A vaccine shortage had left Alabama about 300,000 doses short of being able to vaccinate the state's elderly, sick and very young. But after last week's flu shot clinics, state Health Officer Don Williamson says about 16,000 shots are left over. Jefferson County accounts for almost half that amount, with 7,000 unused shots. Williamson says the shots will be offered again in December but, again, only to people in high-risk categories.
