Huntsville City Councilor Survives Tsunami Waves

By Alabama Public Radio

Huntsville, AL – A member of the Huntsville City COuncil is reportedly safe in southern Asia. Councilman Glen Watson has apparently survived the tidal waves that killed thousands along the coast of the Indian Ocean. Watson was in the area for the holidays when the walls of water hit the coastal areas after an earthquake. Friends and family had not heard from him after the tidal waves hit. But a council aide says Watson has now made contact by e-mail. He is apparently safe and on his way home. The aide says Watson reported seeing hundreds of bodies in the wreckage, and he also wrote of losing some friends to the natural disaster.
