By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – Mobile is getting a major contract for airplanes, a new aircraft complex and 30 jobs for the area. The Coast Guard's modernization drive is behind the action. Officials say the move will inject millions of dollars into the Port City's economy. Governor Riley and other officials will lay the cornerstone for EADS North America's aircraft complex Monday mnorning. That's a $1 million project that's expected to open in April next to the Coast Guard Mobile Air Training Center. The Mobile EADS office and warehouse will handle training, support and logistics for the CASA CN235 aircraft for the Coast Guard. It will also have adjacent land reserved for expansion and hangars for the eventual assembly of that aircraft.
