Scrushy's Attorneys Try to Discredit Testimony

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – Defense attorneys for former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy attempted to discredit the recent testimony of a former company executive on Monday. Former finance chief Bill Owens has testified that Scrushy knew of the company's massive accounting fraud and lied about the company's financial health. Owens was on the witness stand for nine days, during which time he portrayed Scrushy as being at the heart of the conspiracy. Scrushy is charged with conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice and perjury.
