Montgomery, AL – Legislators continue to discuss the possibility of giving state employees a cost-of-living raise. The Senate Finance and Taxation-General Fund Committee approved two bills Wednesday. They would mandate a four percent raise for active and retired state employees. The bills passed with bipartisan support. Governor Bob Riley, however, is pushing for a different pay raise bill. It would provide a four percent raise only if extra money becomes available in the state General Fund.
