Montgomery, AL – The Senate Economic Expansion and Trade Committee voted Wednesday to ban money transfers between political action committees. Committee members rewrote a bill that passed in the House. The original language would have restricted transfers but would not have banned them. The sponsor of the original bill -- state Representative Jeff McLaughlin -- says he's pleased with the changes. Senate Committee Chairman Pat Lindsey says several public officials have been calling for a complete ban on PAC-to-PAC transfers. Lindsey says now they'll have the chance to support one.
