Monroeville Man Gets Death for Killing Parents

By Alabama Public Radio

Monroeville, AL – A judge Thursday sentenced a Monroeville man to death for killing his parents in their home during an argument about the family vehicle and his drug abuse. Timothy Jason Jones was convicted of capital murder in January. The 29-year-old's trial was held in Birmingham because of publicity, but he was sentenced in Monroeville, where his father was a prominent physician. Jones had asked the court to sentence him to death during a sentencing hearing after his conviction. He called himself a monster who deserves to die. A jury later recommended the death penalty.
