Birmingham, AL – Alabama's average gasoline prices have increased by about 11 cents during the past week. They've jumped almost two cents since Monday. Triple-A Alabama's daily survey shows the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded is a dollar-96. Mid-grades are averaging about two-dollars-nine cents-a-gallon, and premium fuel is about two-dollars-16 cents per gallon. Birmingham is still the state's cheapest metro area for gas -- it's averaging a dollar-95 there. Huntsville has the most expensive fuel at a dollar-99. Even though it's just March, gas prices are already close to the record highs that were set last May.
