Alabama Man TO Read At Pope's Funeral

By Alabama Public Radio

Citronelle, AL – A seminary student from Alabama will read from the Bible at the Pope's funeral tomorrow (Friday).
John McDonald of Citronelle is in Rome studying to become a priest for the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham. McDonald grew up as an Episcopalian but became a Catholic while attending Loyola University in New Orleans. He is on schedule to become a deacon in 2006 and ordained as a priest in 2007. One of McDonald's parents says he will give the second reading from the New Testament during the Mass.
The pope's funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Rome ... that's 3 a.m. central time.
