Meth Task Force Fights "Plague"

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Alabama Attorney General Troy King has appointed a task force to come up with ways to combat the rapid growth of methamphetamine in the state. The Attorney General's Methamphetamine Task Force includes prosecutors, law enforcement officials, physicians and leaders of groups working on drug addiction. King says meth production and addiction has become a growing plague that is spreading across the state. There were 297 meth labs found in Alabama in 2004. That compares to 280 in 2003 and 207 in 2002.
