South Alabama Jail Undergoes Improvements

By Alabama Public Radio

Andalusia, AL – The Covington County Jail is being renovated. Sheriff Anthony Clark says he's changing procedures and policies after three prisoners escaped in late March. They are back in custody. However, two of them are suspects in a Texas murder case. One was arrested in California and the other was captured in Nevada. Both await extradition to Alabama. Covington County Deputy Sergeant David Whitt is in charge of upgrading the jail's security. Changes include placing razor-wire around the Andalusia facility and installing reinforced locks on all jail house doors. The upgrades are expected to be finished next week.
