Jury Should Get Scrushy Trial This Week

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – Jurors are expected to start considering the fate of former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy this week. His trial has lasted 15 weeks. Lawyers will give closing arguments on Wednesday, and the jury's deliberations will begin Thursday. Prosecutors used five former company finance chiefs to establish that Scrushy was at the center of a multi-billion dollar financial scandal. All five have pleaded guilty in the case. The defense used the same former workers, but instead described them as rogue employees who committed the fraud without Scrushy's knowledge.
