Montgomery, AL – The state is considering closing several of its employment offices across the state. State Department of Industrial Relations Director Phyllis Kennedy says years of inadequate funding is forcing the reorganization. Some legislators say they're worried the plan will create more difficulties for rural residents who need help finding jobs. But Kennedy says her agency can no longer afford to maintain a network of offices statewide. She says no decisions have been made, and she expects the final plan to be ready in the next few weeks.
