Montgomery, AL – Lieutenant Governor Lucy Baxley filed the paperwork Thursday to run for Governor. Baxley says the latest polling information has given her the confidence to go ahead with forming a campaign committee. Even though the Democrat filed the paperwork Thursday, she says she will later hold a formal campaign announcement, where she'll unveil her campaign platform. The paperwork she filed Thursday with the Secretary of State's office shows that her campaign is chaired by Ann Payne. Payne is a past President of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association and a former Democratic candidate for agriculture commissioner. Gene Stabler is the treasurer of Baxley's campaign. Stabler spent years as Alabama's assistant state treasurer.
