Mobile, AL – The Alabama State Docks will continue its expansion project. Governor Bob Riley signed a bill Monday morning that appropriates 80 million dollars for the effort. The money will partially fund construction costs for a new container and intermodal terminal at the docks. The terminal is expected to be completed by mid-2007. The governor says the project is expected to create more than one thousand jobs. He also says improving the state's port will give the entire state an economic boost. Alabama voters originally approved the 80 million dollar appropriation in a 2000 referendum.
