Juror Illness Delayed Scrushy Deliberations

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – There were no deliberations Thursday in the fraud trial of former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy. The judge postponed discussions today because one of the jurors was sick and could not make it to court. Court officials say the illness wasn't considered serious, so jurors are expected to resume work Friday morning. The jury has already deliberated nine days, and so far, the group has been unable to reach a verdict. Scrushy is accused of directing a multi-billion dollar financial fraud at the company and profiting from inflated stock prices.
