Auburn, AL – Auburn University will discontinue its Tiger Club Card. It allows students to charge items at local businesses and then send the bill to their parents. But two local merchants are challenging the program, saying it violates Alabama law. They've sued the university because they say they lost business by refusing to accept the card. The business say the Tiger Club Card program gouges small businesses with high transaction rates. Local lawmakers tried to rewrite the state statute, but the bill died in the Legislature last month.
