Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Obesity Task Force has unveiled its long-term plan to improve fitness in the state and to help Alabama lose its title as the fattest state in the country. It's a 50-page plan that outlines several goals and strategies to encourage healthy eating and physical activity. Basically, it's a plan to change the way Alabamians eat and exercise. It includes recommendations for public education campaigns on nutrition and building more sidewalks. It also suggests ways to get public school students active for at least an hour every day. Much of the plan focuses on children. The Alabama Obesity Task Force includes more than 100 representatives from health care, education, business and community groups.
