Crenshaw County Trial Wrapping Up

By Alabama Public Radio

Luverne, AL – Closing arguments are scheduled for Monday in a capital murder case in Luverne. The defense rested Friday afternoon in the trial of Westley Devon Harris. Harris is charged with killing six members of his former girlfriend's family in Crenshaw County. Prosecutors say he shot and killed Janice Ball's grandmother, parents and three teenage brothers. The murders happened in 2002 at the family's Rutledge farm. Ball was 16 years old at the time of the killings. She was the prosecution's key witness in the case against Harris.
