Birmingham, AL – Attorneys were scheduled to begin picking a jury Monday for the trial of a man charged with killing three Birmingham police officers last year. 25-year-old Kerry Spencer is on trial for capitol murder. Spencer says he's innocent. He and Nathaniel Woods are charged with killing Carlos Owen, Charles Robert Bennett, and Harley Chisholm the Third on June 17th last year. The officers were trying to serve a misdemeanor warrant on Woods. His trial is set to begin in August. Woods and Spencer also face an attempted murder charge in the shooting of a fourth officer.
