Former ASU President to Head Ft. Valley St.

Atlanta, GA – The former president of Alabama State University has been named interim president at Fort Valley State University in Atlanta. William Harris will assume the post July 1 and will serve through the fall semester. Harris was president of Alabama State from 1994 until 2000. He also served as president of Texas Southern University from 1988 until 1993 and as president of Paine College in Augusta from 1982 until 1988. Fort Valley's current president, Kofi Lomotey, has been at the traditionally black college since 2001. He's leaving the post at the end of June.
