Former Superintendent Testifies Before Grand Jury

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – A federal grand jury continues to investigate government corruption. Wednesday, the group questioned former state school superintendent Ed Richardson. Richardson is now president of Auburn University and says he was questioned about Trillion Digital Communications. The Bessemer company was the front-runner to get a state contract in 2001 to connect all public schools to the Internet. It never happened -- former Governor Don Siegelman's administration eventually dropped the project. The grand jury is scheduled to meet again Thursday in Montgomery. It has been meeting periodically since last June.
