Childersburg, AL – Authorities in East Alabama have been searching for an escaped murderer. Herman Adkison escaped from a work detail in Childersburg. He's been in prison since 1988 for the murder of his business partner. Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies are focusing their search in the Sandy Creek area of the county. That's where they found a truck Monday that Adkison is believed to have used as a getaway vehicle. Authorities are urging people in the area to keep their homes and cars locked until Adkison is found.
