By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – Tropical Storm Cindy is considered to be a threat to Alabama's Gulf Coast, and the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Mobile and Baldwin counties. Sustained winds have been recorded at 70 miles per hour, and forecasters expect the storm to strengthen before making landfall. Heavy rain is likely along the coast Tuesday night and Wednesday. There is also a Tornado Watch in effect in southwest Alabama until midnight Tuesday. The National Weather Service says tornadoes, wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour and dangerous lightning are possible as Tropical Storm Cindy approaches.
