Birmingham, AL – Electricity is once again flowing to most of the state now that Hurricane Dennis is gone. Representatives of Alabama Power and the state's rural electric cooperatives say about 87 percent of those who lost power have it again. About 360-thousand power customers lost electricity when Dennis moved through the state Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile, cleanup continues. Relief workers have been handing out ice, water and food to those most affected by the storm. Governor Bob Riley says even though Dennis wasn't as bad as expected along the coast, the storm caused considerable damage in southwestern Alabama's inland counties.
