Baxley Bemoans Web Status

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Lieutenant Governor Lucy Baxley is complaining that Governor Riley's official Web site downplays the importance of her office by listing it among the state's cultural agencies. Baxley is Alabama's first female Lieutenant Governor. She said Thursday she was disappointed the Governor didn't recognize her role in state government. Riley's spokesperson Jeff Emerson says the listing was a mistake, and it was corrected as soon as Riley's office was made aware of it. But Emerson complained that it was reporters, not Baxley, that brought up the issue. Baxley is a Democrat. She's planning to run for Governor in 2006.
