By Alabama Public Radio

Bay Minette, AL – An Atmore man has been charged with abuse and neglect after allegedly leaving his elderly mother alone in a hot car in a Bay Minette parking lot. Bay Minette police found Annie Brown inside a locked car that was parked outside Wal-Mart around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. They say the 95-year-old Atmore woman had numerous visible bruises and lacerations on her skin. Brown's son, Will Thomas Brown, has been charged with felony neglect and elderly abuse. The 68-year-old's mother was taken to North Baldwin Infirmary. She was reported in stable condition Thursday. Police say when they found Brown in the car, the windows were rolled up, the engine was shut off, and the temperature inside the vehicle had climbed above 110 degrees.
