BRAC Decision Nixes Anniston Jobs
Anniston, AL – When the Base Realignment and Closure Commission made its initial recommendations in May, the Anniston Army Depot expected to gain more than one thousand jobs. A facility in Texas was slated to be closed, and those jobs would have been moved to the Depot. However, the commission voted earlier today (8/24) to realign the Texas facility instead, and it appears those jobs will stay where they are. Sherri Sumners is president of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. She spoke this afternoon with Alabama Public Radio's Butler Cain about today's decision.
