Washington, DC – The U-S Senate will get the opportunity to consider a bill written by Senator Jeff Sessions. It would require businesses and other organizations that experience data security problems to notify consumers who may be at risk of identity theft. The U-S Senate Judiciary Committee approved the measure Thursday and sent it to the full Senate. In a written release, Sessions says the public needs to have confidence that they can do business online without being the victim of a crime. It's called the Notification of Risk to Personal Data Act of 2005. Sessions says it strikes a balance between personal privacy and the need to inform consumers of possible security breaches.
