Montgomery, AL – The state Department of Transportation plans to connect I-85, which ends in Montgomery, to Interstate 20/59 near the Mississippi line. Transportation Chief Engineer Don Vaughn says officials hope to get through the approval and design process and have a route in place within 30 months. The hearings will be in Montgomery on Monday, Selma on Tuesday, and Demopolis on Thursday. Maps of preliminary routes and other information will be available at the three hearings, and state transportation officials and representatives of the project manager, Volkert and Associates Incorporated, will attend.
