Company Places Landfill Idea On Hold

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa, AL – Regional Environmental Service is currently not pursing plans to build a landfill in Greene County. The company's president says he isn't sure whether the cancellation is permanent or just temporary. The company says the Greene County Commission never received permission from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to build the landfill. A-D-E-M must approve all landfill proposals. The county commission submitted a plan last year, but it was rejected. The commission never resubmitted a revised one.
