Wife of Former Auburn Coach to Run for Alabama House

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – Ellis announced Monday that she'll make a Democratic run for the House seat held by House Minority Leader Mike Hubbard, who is seeking re-election. Ellis was active in charitable, church and civic work, while her husband coached at South Alabama, Clemson and Auburn. Ellis says Hubbard, who's a Republican from Auburn, has spent more time on partisan politics than on serving the needs of the Lee County House district. Hubbard responded saying he has worked to secure millions of dollars for Auburn University and has worked with Republican Governor Bob Riley to make state government more accountable, expand the economy and improve education.
