Montgomery, AL – Senator Hank Sanders is at the center of another ethics complaint. The state Ethics Commission will consider it early next month. The complaint accuses Sanders of using his office to steer state money to groups run by his family. He says his family members have not benefited from any state money used by nonprofit groups in the Selma area. He says any money that went to those agencies went to separate accounts, and it wasn't used to pay employees. Alabama ethics law forbids state officials from using their positions for personal or family financial gain. The commission cleared Sanders of a similar complaint in 1997.
