Birmingham, AL – HealthSouth spokesman Andy Brimmer says Scrushy is part of HealthSouth's past, not its present or its future. Scrushy says the current leadership doesn't want him around because he will try to keep them from selling the company and moving it out of Birmingham. The shareholders' meeting will be the first since 2002. No meetings were held after the health care company went public with its two-point-six billion dollar accounting fraud in 2003. Scrushy was fired as CEO, but he has continued to serve on HealthSouth's board because investors have not had a meeting to elect any directors.
