Authorities Hoping for Pay Raise

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – The State Department of Public Safety is hoping to get a major pay raise for its law enforcement officers this year. And, things are starting on a good note. A Senate budget committee approved a bill Thursday that would boost the pay of state troopers and corporals by ten percent. Sergeants and lieutenants would see a seven-and-a-half percent increase, and captains and higher ranks would get a five percent boost. The bill now goes to the full Senate. Senator Hinton Mitchem is its sponsor and says he expects the bill to pass.
