Masonite Announces Cutbacks

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – The news is not good for about 205 employees of the Masonite International plant in Mobile. They're going to start losing their jobs next month because the door manufacturing plant is reducing its workforce. Human resources vice president Phil Kohner says the layoffs are scheduled to begin in mid-February and continue through late March. Much of the production that occurs at the Mobile plant site has been moved to other plants. Masonite plans to offer severance packages to salaried employees. A similar package also is expected to be offered to employees who are paid hourly wages. After the job cuts, 55 workers will remain at the plant.
