Beaverton, AL – Saturday's fire at Beaverton Freewill Baptist Church in Lamar County was the tenth church arson since February third. However, it was the first to happen in the late afternoon. The fire occurred about 4:20 P-M. The other fires were set in the hours before dawn. Authorities say the latest fire definitely was arson, and investigators say they've found significant evidence supporting their conclusion. A federal investigator says witness reports and behavioral profilers are leading authorities to believe two white men are responsible for the fires. They're considered to be very close friends in their 20s or 30s.
