Yemen Man Executed for Murders

By Alabama Public Radio

Yemen – The official news agency in Yemen is reporting a man who killed three American missionaries, including an Alabama woman, was executed by firing squad. The agency reports the man was shot in a provincial prison. He had been convicted of opening fire on a staff meeting at a Baptist hospital in a southern Yemeni town in December 2002. Obstetrician and surgeon Martha Myers of Montgomery was killed along with two others. Yemen's president approved the death sentence. Yemeni officials also have said the man may have been linked to the al-Qaida terror network.
