Tuscaloosa, AL – The nation's news media marked Sunshine Week a few weeks ago with reports on efforts to increase public access to government records and to improve notification of public meetings. Alabama Public Radio's Butler Cain continues that theme this week.
There's an effort underway to come up with uniform standards for access to government records. Right now, getting access to a public record can be easy -- or difficult. It just depends on where you are. Alabama Public Radio's Butler Cain continues the discussion with state Representative Cam Ward. Representative Ward sits on the Alabama Open Records Study Task Force. He chairs a subcommittee that is charged with developing a statewide policy for getting public records.
